Bit's Bit O' Patch

What I learned Today

Today I learned so many things about friendship, and life in general. After what happened today I will have more reason not to dwell on the bad and be grateful that I have friends and family who really cares.

Early this morning a few houses from our house, a structure (I’m still not sure what exactly), caught fire. Ninang Hazel, already at the bank (she’s a bank manager) called up our house telling Nanay who just woke up that there’s a fire going on in our neighborhood. She sent her car along with her driver to help in whatever needed to be done. A few minutes later, my friend Joanne with her husband Noynoy looking disheveled with a just-woke-up-appearance appeared yelling and calling out my name. They also brought a vehicle for the purpose of hauling out our everything.

A few moments later Anne Grace, Kim and company arrived with their truck, and Jasmin came with her father arrived too. They all came with the intention to help.

Tina who was still at home freaking out waiting for any text message from Joanne only relaxed when she finally received the message she has been waiting for:

“Tin, ok ra sila. Tulog pa man gani gihapon si Lyra.”

(Tin, everything’s ok. In fact Lyra is still sleeping till now.)

They are truly my friends. Even with just a hint that I was in distress they were there. In the future when I have the urge to indulge in a self pity session I will look back to this day. How can I think that the world is a dark place when I have these friends in my life? Thank you, thank you my friends.

Lesson learned: Wake up early next time.
